Launch Out Into The Deep

Launch_Out__BB_2013Luke 5:4, “Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.”

I have been musing on the theme of the conference I attended in Lancaster, California: “Launch Out Into The Deep”. Dr. Chappell preached a stirring message on the opening night. It has been a joy over the years to have a small part in watching ministries and men “launch out into the deep” as they begin a full line of ministry to the addicted. Rescuing and recovering the addicted is certainly launching out into the deep for many. I was greeted at this conference by several who shared blessings which reminded me what happens when we launch out into the deep:

It is in the deep where you find your catch.
I saw men and women from all around the world who have been reached and impacted because of the tool of RU, helping folks launch out into the deep. Young, old, and everyone in between have an eternal home in Heaven who were once bound by addiction. Jesus told Peter his attention was now to be on catching men. Let’s never forget that launching out leads us to catching men and women for Christ.

It is in the deep where you find your miracle.
So many people have tried everything and have failed. I can personally testify and give you hundreds of examples of people who came to the end of their resources, looked to God for a miracle, and found that the miracle was accessible while they were in the deep. It is when man comes to the conclusion “he can’t”, that God steps in and does the impossible.

It is in the deep where you will realize who you really are.
Peter saw the Lord and then classified himself as a sinful man. Isaiah 6 reminds us that Isaiah saw the Lord high and lifted up during a “deep” time of turmoil in his life. “Woe is me, for I am a sinful man.” In the deep, you learn it has nothing to do with you, rather everything to do with Him!

Deep people want others to experience what they have.
Seeing God perform miracles almost weekly in the Reformers Recovery Ministry is something of which we never become tired. Rather, we encourage others to “launch out into the deep” with us! There are many souls that need rescuing and only one Savior with such a perfect success rate – Jesus Christ.
