Remember the Name of the LORD our God

Psalm 20:1-9, “To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The LORD hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee; (2) Send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion; (3) Remember all thy offerings, and accept thy burnt sacrifice; Selah. (4) Grant thee according to thine own heart, and fulfil all thy counsel. (5) We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the LORD fulfil all thy petitions. (6) Now know I that the LORD saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand. (7) Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God. (8) They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright. (9) Save, LORD: let the king hear us when we call.”

Another election year is right around the corner. As we all know, we have enjoyed freedoms in our country which are a direct result of the Christian influence from those who founded this great nation. America was founded on biblical principle. Our forefathers knew the importance of prayer, and priority was given to worship.

Here are a few pointers that I have been pondering over and wanted to share with you today:

* Pledge your allegiance to Jesus. Christ is to be a Christian’s life. We are not placing trust in horses or chariots, but in the name of our God. We are not voting for a candidate to be a pastor of a church; but rather, we are voting for an American to lead our country.

* Trust God’s ultimate authority. Because we trust God as the sovereign and good Ruler of all things, we can be set free from the fear and worry. The Lord sets up “rulers” in 2013 just as He did in Daniel’s day. However, I believe He expects God’s people to be salt and light and help lead the choice for the right person to keep our goodly heritage.
* Be aware. Do not stick your head in the sand and act like you are not American or your vote will not matter. Get informed! Pray and ask the Lord to lead you towards the right candidates in November when you vote.

* Be involved. As the salt and light of the world, we ought to properly use the liberties we’ve been given for the glory of God and the good of all people. Let’s be good stewards! What if this was your last chance to vote?

* Point people to the hope of the gospel. We can only see lasting change as God’s people get actively involved in the best political plan laid out by the world’s greatest leader – JESUS! Mathew 28:19-20 reminds us to – go, win, baptize and teach. King Jesus is still King! He is also the only Savior that can make people free indeed.

* Be contagious, but still be Christian! Encourage others to vote! Do not argue, but act. Use your influence to keep people positive during these days, as we have read the last chapter of the book and we all know who wins!
